Volume 7 - Introduction
I love my back yard. And after visiting one of the world’s biggest, busiest cities I love my back yard even more. Through totally unexpected circumstances I recently found myself in New York City for a whirlwind trip. All-in-all an amazing place to visit and I would go back in a heartbeat.
However ... I have to say that coming back to our back yard in little old country Victoria with its explosion of growth and fecundity after all the recent rain was like landing in paradise. Blossoms, bees and freshly-picked rocket it’s a pretty sweet life.
And it’s a pretty sweet spot for birds of all shapes and sizes. Without really planning it, we have created a backyard bird-attracting oasis. Fairy wrens, finches and honeyeaters come for nectar and seed, and kookaburras gleefully pluck juicy earthworms from the soil. Quite the haven for our wild feathered friends.
I hope you enjoy this latest volume of Back Yard Farmer a haven for new growth, life and energy. Just like our beautiful back yards.
